What Is Surface Sclerotherapy?
The most effective treatment for spider and reticular veins remains sclerotherapy. During this minimally invasive procedure, a very fine needle delivers a specialized solution called a sclerosant directly into the targeted veins.
The injected solution causes a controlled inflammatory reaction that makes the lining of the vein swell and collapse. Once the vein seals closed, blood flow naturally reroutes through healthier nearby veins. Over time, the treated vein is absorbed by the body and gradually fades from view.
Advances in sclerosant medications have significantly reduced the discomfort previously associated with surface vein treatment. Most sclerotherapy sessions take less than an hour and are performed in an outpatient setting.
What To Expect During Treatment
